WHAT’S DIRTIER THAN A TOILET SEAT? YOUR HANDBAG!
As a mom of four, I will heartily admit that I’m a bit of a germaphobe. Handwashing, toothbrush disinfecting. And absolutely no shoes in the house. But apparently I should be more worried about my own purse, which might be dirtier than a toilet seat.
Yes, researchers at Initial Washroom Hygiene found that items we typically carry in our handbags, like lotion and mascara, for example, have more bacteria than a toilet seat. And the worst offenders: Leather bags. So hooray for your cheap knock-off!
I suppose it’s not surprising given what I tend to keep in my purse (dirty toys, diapers, toddler socks), but also where its been. That public restroom floor when there’s no hook? Bad news.
So what’s the lesson I’m taking from this awful news? Time to buy myself a hot new handbag! Or 12.
